Sekem is a sustainable development initiative established by Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish in 1977 and continued today by his son. SEKEM's biodynamic cotton, grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers on their Demeter-certified SEKEM farms, embodies a new standard of purity and quality. Each fiber tells a story of ethical production and environmental stewardship, fostering soil health, biodiversity, and social justice.

This item is made from locally sourced, ecologically raised wool, LOADS Collection endeavors to offer an embodied experience through its garments, with a focus on indigenous, Drenthe Heath Sheep and Spanish Merino wool. 

‘It Fryske Gea protects and manages more than 60 nature reserves across the rural northern province of Friesland, The Netherlands. For this sweater LOADS sourced their wool from a flock of indigenous Drenthe Heath sheep that graze on the rare Dutch heathlands of “HetMandefjild” nature reserve, a designated EU Natura 2000 protected landscape. Dating back to 4000 BCE, Drenthe Heath sheep are valued for landscape preservation. This ancient, robust species plays a vital role in maintaining an ecological balance between biotopes in their heathland habitat, which is currently threatened by climate change. A nutrient-rich, plant-based diet, calm lifestyle and safe shearing practices increase their health and lifespan without requiring antibiotics. The lifepath of the sheep reflects in the quotlity of wool they produce
