Ecological Spanish Merino wool
LOADS Collection partners with shepherd Maria Pia Sanchez to source 100% Spanish Merino heritage wool that contributes to the revitalization of endangered ecosystems and pastoral traditions of care in the Spanish countryside. On Sanchez's ecological ranch, Dehesa de la Rinconada, she carries on her family’s generational dedication to land conservation and the preservation of endangered Spanish Merino heritage sheep.
Practicing transhumance, Sanchez's flock graze along historic seasonal migration paths forged by this breed over centuries across the countryside of Mérida Extremadura, revitalizing the pastoral lifestyle and raising resilient, net-positive, Spanish Merino heritage wool.
Spun by Wooldreamers, a family owned and operated spinning mill in Mota del Cuervo, Spain specialising in the manufacture of Spanish heritage yarns. Wooldreamers supports ranchers by paying them a fair price for the materials they produce, strengthening rural economies and ecologies through yarn production.
Biodynamic plant-based colour
LOADS Collection partners with a growing network of biodynamic farmers to cultivate Demeter-certified biodynamic colour plants. Our farmers' seasonal harvests are transformed into rich, vibrant natural colours in the plant-based dye lab at Studio Claudy Jongstra in Friesland, The Netherlands, where our small batch dye process draws on more than 20 years of expertise in plant-based dyeing techniques.
Cultivating botanical dye plants with biodynamic farming methods prioritizes the holistic restoration and enhancement of soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem resilience.
